Safe Passage for Children of Minnesota promotes legislative reforms, increased funding for child protection, and improved policies and practices in Minnesota child protection and foster care.
Together we can make a difference!
Please join us on the beautiful campus of the University of St. Thomas for our annual fall fundraising breakfast, coming up on Thursday October 13th. This annual fundraising event is incredibly important to support the costs of our operations and advocacy for vulnerable Minnesota children. Thank you for your support!
This year we are excited to feature author, speaker, and researcher Andrew Campbell, an inspiring advocate who has raised awareness around the nation and the world about family violence, which is the interrelationships among child maltreatment, domestic violence, and animal abuse. Learn more about Andrew's new book below.
Like family, pets provide us unconditional love and support during our most vulnerable moments, asking for nothing in return. Yet pets are rarely included in family violence prevention, detection, or intervention initiatives. Victims of abuse often choose to remain in the abusive home if no safe place of refuge exists for their animals. Protection of their pets often comes at a perilous price.
Author Andrew Campbell survived his own familial abuse in great part due to the support and unconditional love of his own pet. His compelling personal story inspired his groundbreaking research about the role that pets play in protecting victims of family violence. Campbell shares how when pets are included in family violence prevention plans, we can better provide support at the very time the victims need it most. Available here: https://a.co/d/b3t2oO9
The breakfast itself is free! There will be an ask for donations to support our work at the end of the event.
We hope you can join us in-person; it will be great to see everyone again! If you cannot join us for breakfast in-person, a free virtual livestream will also be available.
In conjunction with our annual breakfast, we will also be holding a half-day conference on Family Violence the following day, Friday October 14th. Find out more about that virtual conference here.
We hope you can join us!

Last year Minnesota children were safer and received more services due in large part to the loyal donors and passionate volunteers of Safe Passage for Children of Minnesota. 13,600 more children annually are getting help from county child protection agencies due to changes our passionate volunteers helped make in state law.
In addition, counties and the state increased their budgets for child protection and foster care by over $200 million since 2015. Counties also added nearly 500 caseworkers – a 60% increase. But many challenges remain for vulnerable, neglected, and abused children in Minnesota, this year and into the future, and you are their voice at the Capitol!
Our mission is to ensure that Minnesota has a child welfare system in which children are safe and reach their full potential.
Our goal is a Minnesota child protection and foster care system in that continuously improves the lives of children, as demonstrated by objective, measurable outcomes. If the system is working well, children’s outcomes will improve over time.
